Richard Alden Cochran, 86, of Clearwater, Florida, formerly of Sidney, passed away at 8:36 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Largo Medical Center in Largo, Florida. He was born on June 3, 1927 in Danville, Ohio, the son of the late Clarence and Edith (Roush) Cochran. On October 21, 1951 he was married to Lois Jean Neal, who preceded him in death on January 21, 1999.
Dick is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Collins) of Clearwater, FL, his two daughters Joyce Ann Miller and husband Edward Leslie, Jr. of Anna, OH, and Tina Marie Lightcap and husband Floyd Drayer Jr. of West Union; four grandchildren, Edward Leslie "Eddie" Miller III and wife Twila, Stacey Michelle Savidge, Abbey Jo and Ethan Drayer Lightcap; three step-grandsons, Jonathan Lozano, Christopher and Spencer Collins; four great-grandchildren, Payton Jean Delafuente, Allie Rae, Gavin and Gabriel Miller; two step-great-grandchildren, Christopher Bernardi and Taylor Bernardi, and cousin Max (Irene) Roush of Hillsboro. Dick was preceded in death by six siblings, Harold Cochran, Wava Zink, Dana, Virgil, Betty Jean, and Everette Cochran.
While in Sidney, Dick worked for Welfare Finance Corporation, General Highway Express and Copeland Corporation, from where he retired in 1990. He was a member of First Christian Church in Sidney. He was also a member of the Sidney Kiwanis and the Sidney Moose Lodge. Dick loved to golf, bowl, play cards, horseshoes and shuffleboard. Mostly he enjoyed spending time with Phyllis, his family and extended family, who will all miss him very much.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 18, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., with Floyd Lightcap, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Pearl Cemetery in Swanders.
