Gladys Rice Stanfield age 87 years of Manchester, died Wednesday Feb. 26, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Stanfield born Jan. 22, 1927 the daughter of the late Harvey and Ola (Callahan) Rice in Mason County, Ky. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Stanfield and a son, Don Stanfield.
Mrs. Stanfield was a 62 year member of the Bentonville Christian Union Church, elder of the church, member of the Kings Daughters, a retired school teacher with 30 years, and a 4-H advisor of the Better Citizens 4-H Club.
Survivors include three daughters; Gay Trotter and husband Bill of Manchester, Sue Stanfield of Manchester, Lynn McKinniss and husband Michael of Dayton; two sons, Joe Stanfield and wife Vicky of Fort Myers, Fla. and Harvey Stanfield and wife Greta of Manchester; three sisters Mariola Brohaun and husband Charles of North Carolina, Eleanor Hubbard and Joel of Kentucky, Helen Heflin of Louisiana; one brother Roy Rice and wife Lillian of Kentucky; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday March 1, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Thompson-Meeker Funeral Home in West Union with Darrell Myers officiating. Burial followed at the Maysville-Mason County Cemetery. Visitation was held on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
