DALE - James VanWinkle, 80, of Dale, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013, at his son's home in Ferdinand.
He was born Aug. 30, 1932, in Bristow to William and Glessie (Beard) VanWinkle. He worked at Witte Mill in Dale for 35 years, and was a member of Oakridge Pentecostal Church in Bristow.
He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, from 1953 to 1955.
Jim loved helping people and working with his hands. He loved the great outdoors, reading and tinkering with cars and tractors. He enjoyed his dog, Melody, and working on just about anything, but his passion was loving his family and taking care of them; he was always his family's rock.

My husband Michael Kraemer is Seddie Van Winkle's oldest grandson. It sound like Jimmy was much like his older brother Seddie. Such good men. Just think what rejoicing is going on in Heaven as the siblings and their parents reunite. We will be keeping the family in prayer. God Bless you all.

I loved Uncle Jim. He was such a rock to not only his own family, but his extended family as well. I know that he was met at the golden gates of heaven by all those family members we have lost and led with love to the Throne of God for all his good works for the Lord. You will be missed Uncle Jim. Celebrate with God above and know we all loved you very much.
