Anthony Haas(1922 - 2014)

JASPER – Anthony "Tony" V. Haas, 91, of Jasper, passed away at 10:22 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.
He was born in St. Anthony Nov. 2, 1922, to John and Theresia Heichelbech Haas. He married Bertha Goeppner Feb. 22, 1943, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ireland. She preceded him in death June 18, 2010.
Also preceding him in death are two sisters, Barbara Matthews and Marie Weyer; a brother, John M. Haas and a grandson, Keith Allen Vonderheide.
Tony was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during WWII. He retired from Bob Luegers Motor Co. where he worked for 27 years. After retirement, he worked at Rural King in Jasper.
Tony was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 673 in Jasper. He enjoyed playing cards and fishing.
Surviving are two daughters and two sons; Shirley Vonderheide of Jasper, Kathleen Holman and husband Martin of Bristow, Herb Haas and wife Kathy of Jasper and Jerry Haas and wife Marilyn of Washington; 14 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. V.F.W. Post 673 will conduct military graveside rites.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
