Brenda Ingwalson

Brenda Lautner Ingwalson left us Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at her home in Littleton, with her husband, Jared, son Matthew and daughter Kathryn by her side.
She is also survived by her brother Duane Lautner, and sisters Connie Blackford and Terri Uebelhor of Evansville and Annette Johnson of Austin, Texas.
Brenda graduated from Tell City High School in 1965, earned her bachelor's degree at Indiana University, and a master's degree at Colorado University, majoring in early childhood education.
She moved to Elkhart in 1969 for student teaching where she met Jared. They were married in 1970 then moved with his job to Littleton in 1975.
After a rewarding teaching career she retired from Sheridan Headstart in 2005 as their early childhood education coordinator but continued to lead the Book Bag Project, a literacy program she originated which placed thousands of books in the hands of young students.
