TELL CITY – Charles H. Riley, 77, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at his home. He was born Nov. 13, 1936, in Perry County, son of the late Kirby and Christina (Layman) Riley. Also preceding him in death were a son, Steven Riley; sister Laurie King; brothers Paul, Kirby Eugene and Charles Edward Riley.
Charles was semi-retired from Aquarius Marine and was a chief engineer and towboat pilot who worked on all major rivers in the U.S.
He enjoyed mechanic work and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his companion, Betty Hunnicutt of Atlanta, Ga.; daughter Bonnie Bumm (J.R.) of Evanston; sons Charles "Chuck" Riley (Mary) of Derby and Gary Riley (Sherry) of Cannelton; sisters Ethel Duke (Eugene) and Regina Hemphfling (Ralph), all of Tell City and Dora Senn of Cannelton; brothers Donald Riley (Karen) of Cannelton and Dennis Riley of Beatrice, Neb.; 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 21, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel with burial in Chestnut Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Arlie Brock will officiate.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 9 a.m. Saturday.
