TELL CITY – Helen P. Gebhard, 87, of Tell City passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at her home.
Helen was born in Perry County Jan. 3, 1927, daughter of the late Andrew Gengelbach and Emma (York) Gengelbach. She was also preceded in death by her son, Neil Gebhard, brothers, Lloyd and John "Christie" Gengelbach and her sister, Nellie Rothweiler.
Helen was a 1944 graduate of Tell City High School and attended University of Louisville. She was united in marriage to Chester W. Gebhard, who passed away in 1984. She was a clerk at local food stores, including Hinton's Store and Noble's IGA. She also worked with her husband at CG Marine. Helen was a 4-H leader for many years; was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and Fennhaven Home Economics Club.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Karen Little and son Bill Gebhard (Vicky), both of Tell City. Four grandchildren, Matt, Jay and Michelle Sisley and Tara (Gebhard) Briggeman, and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th St., Tell City, with Rev. Paul Alvey officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
