Homer Claude Richardson, 87, of Kokomo, formerly of Peru, passed away at 1 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at North Woods Village in Kokomo.
He was born Sept. 19, 1925, in Livermore, Ky., to Claude Lawson and Lula (Williams) Richardson. On Dec. 29, 1945, he married Juanita French, who preceded him in death Sept. 13, 2007.
He enlisted in the United States Navy
Nov. 18, 1942, and was honorably discharged Nov. 28, 1945.
Homer was a furniture maker who could look at a finished product and know how the frame was built. He was employed by Murphy-Miller Chair Co. in Owensboro, Ky., Tell City Chair Co. in Tell City and Jackson Chair Co. in Danville, Ky., and retired in 1991 as plant superintendent for Guildcrest Furniture Industries, Inc. in Peru.
He was also a member of Paws and Taws Square Dance Club and various bowling leagues. His hobbies included gardening, candy making, woodworking and word finds.
He is survived by sons, Tom (Jane) Richardson of Kokomo and Travis (Connie) Richardson of Evansville; a grandson, Erik Richardson of Colorado Springs, Colo., and a granddaughter, Lindsey (fiancé Casey Jackson) Richardson of Evansville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Juanita; nine sisters and one brother.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 30 at Glenn Funeral Home, 900 Old Hartford Road in Owensboro. The Rev. Dale Hartlein officiated. Burial was in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Navy and the Owensboro Military Rites Team.
