Allen E. DeJarnette, 85, of Hawesville passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at home, with his wife, Blanche, and grandson Zachary by his side.

He was born in Hawesville March 26, 1927, to the late Ben E. and Geneva Powers DeJarnette.
He was a member at Church of the First Born, retired from General Electric and MPD. He was a draftsman engineer and a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in World War II aboard the U.S.S. Benson and the U.S.S. Gainard.
He graduated from Brescia College with a bachelor's degree in math.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Blanche Batie DeJarnette; six children, Edward A. (Debra) DeJarnette of Madisonville, Tenn., Sue DeJarnette and her husband Rimas Taruski of St. Petersburg, Fla., Deborah Jo (Roger) Riquelme of Miami, Fla., David Mark (Lori) DeJarnette of Hawesville, Kimber L. (John) Paetzold of St. Petersburg and Denise M. DeJarnette and her fiancé, Mark Bernier of St. Petersburg;Â 14 grandchildren, Melissa Arensman, Ben DeJarnette, Sarah Schlemmer, Rachel Obando, Zachary DeJarnette, Morgan DeJarnette, Erin DeJarnette, Leah Boris, Mark Peck, Andrew Riquelme, Ted Riquelme, Aundre` Riquelme, Karen Parks and Kurt Stumpf and 17 great-grandchildren, with another on the way.
Special caregivers who provided 24-hour in-home care include Twylaine Douglas, Johnny McBride, Julie Woods, Emily Carmen and Alicia Wedding.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 1, at Mount Eden Baptist Church with burial in Mount Eden Cemetery.
Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville was in charge of handling arrangements.
