OWENSBORO, Ky. – James Edward Damin, 91, of Owensboro, passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

He was born Sept. 15, 1922, in Leopold, Indiana to the late John Edward and Clara Leona Hardesty Damin. He was owner and chairman of Jones Wholesale Inc. of Owensboro for 28 years; a barber at the Rudd Hotel in Owensboro for three years; owned a grocery store in Cannelton for 10 years and served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Aside from his parents, he is preceded in death by his wives, Columbine "Colly" Damin and Golda Karper Damin; and a sister, Jenny Louise Burden.
Surviving are his children, Dale (Kay) Damin of Morganfield,Ky., Richard (Brenda) Damin of Utica, Ky., Jim Damin of Owensboro, John Damin, Wally Damin, Martha (Tom) Mason all of Hawesville, Ky., Nancy (Glen) Porter of Knoxville, Tenn., and Darlena (Jim) Cook of Owensboro; two brothers, Earl (Emma) Damin and Herbert Damin both of Tell City; three sisters, Viola Kieser of Cannelton, Ellanora Schneider of Indianapolis and Edith Oskin of Owensboro; 21 grandchildren,; 29 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren;
Services will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Immaculate Catholic Church with Father Tony Jones officiating and burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to nooon Wednesday at Immaculate Catholic Church.
