KOKOMO – Norma Rhodes, 83, of Kokomo, formerly of Tell City, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at her residence.
She was born March 26, 1930, in Tell City, to the late Carl and Lena (Sweat) Goelzer. She married Vincent Rhodes in Tell City May 4, 1954, and he passed May 23, 1992.
After graduating high school, Norma earned an associate's degree from Indiana University Bloomington. She retired from the Social Security Administration as an assistant to the director after 25 years of service.
Norma enjoyed traveling with her late husband and they visited every state in the United States except for Idaho. She also enjoyed fishing, spending time outdoors, and attending the Indy 500 races. She was a big fan of A.J. Foyt.
Norma is survived by her son, Neal Rhodes; a daughter-in-law, Ruzica "Rosie" Rhodes; a sister, Regina (Vince) Fautz of Louisville, Ky.; and three nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and several other family members.
The funeral service will be held for Norma at 1 p.m. Monday, March 31, (today) at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 South Main St., Kokomo, with Virgil Barker officiating.
Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden, Chapel of Peace.
Norma's family will receive relatives and friends for a time of visitation from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
