TELL CITY – Amos H. Rippy, 93, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at Hoosier Village Health Center in Indianapolis. He was born in Portland, Tenn., Jan. 11, 1920, to the late Morgan Russell and Pearl (Moye) Rippy.

A 1938 graduate of Tell City High School, Amos joined the Air Force in 1942 and was a World War II veteran. He was married on January 26, 1944, to Jeanette Ress Together, they co-owned and operated The Frigid Whip.
Amos retired from Tell City Chair Co. in 1985.
He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Tell City Historical Society and Hoosier Heights County Club. He enjoyed playing golf and following IU sports and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Surviving are his daughters, Janet Hohlt and husband, Fredrick of Indianapolis and Sally Riddle and husband, Bruce of Columbus; a sister, Marie Schmidt of Boaz, Ky.; four grandchildren, Eric Riddle, Suzanne Koefoed, Kurt Riddle and Maria Riddle; two great-grandchildren, Nela and Isaac Riddle.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Jeanette Rippy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.Saturday, Nov. 9, at Evangelical United Church of Christ.
Pastor J.T. Hill will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 from 4 to 7 P.M. CST at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Greenwood Cemetery.
