TELL CITY – Anthony Robert "Tony" Russell, Jr. 85, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City.

He was born Feb. 22, 1928, to the late Anthony Sr. and Ellen Dunn Russell.
Tony was a U.S. Navy veteran. He had worked construction, taught welding at Ball State and retired as a driver for Enterprise. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Anderson. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.
Surviving are his children, William "Bill" (Sue) Russell of Derby,Violet (Ronnie) Yeager of Cannelton and Rebecca Russell-Gootee of New Port Richey, Fla.; his grandchildren, Tomee Sue Bunner, Kandy Wright, Wade Russell, Rachel Berg, Christopher Hendershot, Ashley Russell and Nathanael Gootee; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry Russell of Gatchel; two sisters, Delores "Fern" Laverty of Connecticut and Liz Lindauer of New Boston.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Sarah Weedman Russell; his second wife, Irene Russell; granddaughter, Edwina Yeager; brothers, Doris Ray, Homer and Pete Russell; sisters, Mary Glover, Alta Pearl Stolz and Nellie Hempfling.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Sister Dea Goad will officiate. Burial will follow in Collins Chapel Cemetery in Spencer County. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. and 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
