TELL CITY – Beth Ann Fortwendel, 35, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, surrounded by her family at the home of her mother in Hawesville, Ky., after a long fight with scleroderma.

She was born Sept. 14, 1978. She was a 1996 graduate of Tell City High School and a graduate of Indiana State University. Beth had a huge heart for all people, spending time on missions in Africa and Nashville, Tenn. at the Women's Corps., helping women regain their lives.
She was an interim youth pastor at Lewisport Baptist Church and Central Baptist Church, touching the lives of many young people. She also attended Southern Seminary in Louisville, Ky. Beth was an avid sports fan and loved the Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Cubs and Indiana Pacers. She enjoyed euchre and traveling with her family and friends. Her nieces and nephews were her "children" and she took an active role in their lives. She had worked at Lincoln Hills Development Corp. and Advanced Rehab in Tell City.
Surviving are her parents, Sandy and James Sr. Calvert of Hawesville and Rick and Barb Fortwendel of New Boston; sisters Kristi (Josh) Scott of Tell City, Carin (Scotty) Kelly and Pam Garrett, all of Owensboro, Ky.; brothers Jarrod (Andrea) Fortwendel of Mobile, Ala., Brian (Crystal) Vinson of Tell City and Johnathan Calvert of Utica; grandmother Melba Fortwendel of Troy; nieces and nephews Hannah, Ben, Dan and Lydia Scott, Jabez and Mabel Fortwendel, Kendra Owens, Chloe Fortwendel, Lyndon and Capri Kelly and Jordan Kenig, Jacob Vinson, Lexi, Landen and Jersie Vinson, James, Jayden and Jamal Garrett, JJ, Joshua and James Calvert and many beloved aunts, uncles, friends and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Joseph Fortwendel; grandmother Doris Tooley; brothers Todd Vinson and James Calvert Jr.; uncles Mark Fortwendel and Tom Parker and an aunt, Mary Fortwendel.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM CST on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Troy. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00-8:00PM and Saturday, 10:00AM until 2:00PM at the funeral home.
