TELL CITY – Charles E. Powers, 66, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014, at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 29, 1947, in Decatur, Ill., son of the late Oscar and Elsie (Brandel) Powers. Also preceding him in death were his brothers Ray, Bernard and Ed Powers and a sister, Ethel Mae.

A Cannelton High School graduate, Charles was a U.S. Army veteran. He was united in marriage May 1, 1969, in Hawesville, Ky., to Carolyn Sue Knable.
Charles had worked at Tell City Chair Co. and at Kimball International. He had been a member of Indiana National Guard and enjoyed fishing, playing pool, camping and spending time with his grandkids. Charles was generous with many, even at the end of his life; offering to donate his organs, knowing that it would be helpful to others.
Charles is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carolyn; sons Gordon Powers, Chuck Russell, Anthony Evrard and Ryan Evrard, all of Tell City; daughter Candy Russell of Tell City; grandchildren, Terra, Tyler and Kaytlin Russell and Alex Powers and a great-grandchild, Olivia Phillips.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, where there will be military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 2939. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday.
