David Lee VanHoosier, 60, of Bristow went to be with the Lord Sunday, July 8, 2012, at 3:43 p.m. at his home in Bristow.
He was born Aug. 4,1951, in Tell City to Raymond Aders and Flora Mae VanHoosier.
He married Darlene Wahl Oct. 18,1969, in Tell City.
David was retired from Bristow Mill in Bristow and was a member of St. Joseph Church in Dale. He was also an Army veteran. His hobbies included deer hunting, making whirleygigs, collecting antiques and going to auctions.
Surviving are his wife, Darlene VanHoosier; three daughters, Mrs. Randy (Tammy) Scoggan of Bristow, Lisa Avallone and her fiancé, Billy Embry of Grandview and Mrs. Jaron (Jessica) Sosh of Cannelton; a son, Tom VanHoosier of Bristow; his mother, Flora Mae VanHoosier of Tell City; three brothers, Tony Aders and Andy Aders, both of Ferdinand and Tracy Aders of St. Meinrad; 11 grandchildren, Samantha Hazelip, Darien Aders, Mason Aders, Brayden Meserve, Katy Zuelly, Hope Avallone, Faith Avallone, Timothy Avallone, Avery VanHoosier, Chloe VanHoosier and Landon Sosh; one stepgrandson, West Sosh and two great-grandchildren, Arabella and Aratessa Hazelip.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Aders; a son, David L. VanHoosier Jr., and one brother Randy Aders.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, July 12, (today) at St. Joseph Church in Dale. Burial with military graveside rites by Ferdinand Legion Post 124 will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 7 to 9:30 a.m. today at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.
