Dewey Thomas, 75, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.

He was born Sept. 22, 1937, in Gatchel, son of the late David and Lala (Snider) Thomas. Also preceding him in death were a daughter, Dawn Machelle Thomas; a sister, Mary Fuqua and a brother, John David Thomas.
A 1956 graduate of Chrisney High School, Dewey was united in marriage to Rosalee Davis Aug. 10, 1963, in Tennyson. He graduated from Teletronic Technical Institute in Evansville in 1964. In 1998, Dewey retired from Commonwealth AluminumÊafter 30 years.
He and his wife moved from Perry County in 2001, to be near their daughter in Bowling Green, Ky. He was a member of Living Hope Baptist Church in Bowling Green, where he was actively involved in music ministry. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing for friends and church members and also those who resided in nursing homes.Ê He was also active in the church's senior adult council.
Dewey is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rosalee Thomas of Bowling Green; a daughter, Lori Dawson (Jeremy) of Bowling Green; a sister, Grace Weatherholt of Rockport; a brother, Winfield Thomas of Newtonville; his grandsons, Tanner and Carter Dawson and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Huber Funeral Home in Tell City. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery in Newtonville. Military graveside rites were conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939. The Rev. Bill Wade officiated.
