EVANSTON – Donald H. Braun, 78, passed away Dec. 2, 2018, at his home in Evanston.
Don was born on Aug. 1, 1940, in Eureka, Ind., the son of Oscar and Annette Wittman Braun. He was united in marriage to Rose Jarboe on Feb. 15, 1969. Preceding him in death was his daughter, Sherri; his parents, Oscar and Annette; and a sister, Judy.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; his son Kris and daughter-in-law Kristine Braun; and his sister, Brenda Vaughn (Don) all of Evanston. Don has been blessed with three grandchildren, Austin, Autumn and Ella.
Don served in the United States Air Force. He has been a life long member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Evanston. Don has served in many capacities as a member at St. Johns. He has been an active member of the Evanston Civic Association. He has always enjoyed cooking and displaying his cooking skills at all social events in the community including fish frying, chicken frying and soup making. Don has enjoyed spending many years serving on the board of directors for Southern Indiana Power and Hoosier Energy.
He was a truck driver for Emge Packing Co., running a Nashville route for 38 yrs. He and wife Rose and son Kris and family have lived and worked on a family farm in Evanston most of his life. This is where Don has enjoyed working and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at St. John Lutheran Church with burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. Rodney Schmeltz will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
