TELL CITY - Eva L. (McFarling) Buford of Tell City passed away with her loved ones by her side Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013.

Eva grew up in Hawesville, Ky., farming with her father and helping neighboring farmers. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Eva was a Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher and she was a secretary for the early development in forming special-education school classes in the 1950s for Tell City.
She enjoyed baking pies and cakes and was an excellent cook. She enjoyed piecing together quilt blocks with her son, Billy, and spending time with her family and friends. Eva followed her grandchildren in marching and concert band and in sports. She retired from American Olean Tile Co., Collier's Red & White and Golden Living as a cook.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Matilda Knable McFarling; her brothers, Joe, Clarence Jr. and Virgil "Mike" and a sister, Betty DeJarnette.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories her husband of 42 years, John; her son, Billy Eberle; her daughter, Jane (Stephen Hess Sr.); grandchildren Stephen Hess, Jr. and Janean (Keil) Kaiser; her sisters, Nellie Sowards, Shirley Kiplinger, Peggy (Tom) Freeman and Marie (Joe) Butler; a sister-in-law, Pauline McFarling and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at noon Friday, Oct. 11, at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville.Â Burial will be in Serenity Hills in Hawesville.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, (today) and from 10 a.m. to noon Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hawesville Baptist Church in and St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City.
