Gertrude G. Amos, 88, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City.
She was born in Leopold, April 30, 1924. Her parents were the late Walter and Celine (Pauporte) Goffinet.
A 1942 graduate of Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, Gertrude married Alfred Amos Oct. 13, 1947, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Cannelton. She worked at Can-Tex, General Electric and later at Abbey Press, retiring in 1988.
Gertrude was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed playing bridge, euchre and bingo, working crossword puzzles, visiting with family and friends on the telephone and spoiling her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Peggy Ann Huff (Don) of Ferdinand and Michael Amos (Ronnie) of Roswell, Ga.; a sister, Agnes Ramsey of Tell City; grandchildren Jessica Huff, Jeremiah Amos, Benjamin Amos, Brittney Schauss (Chad) and Shaun Amos and a great-granddaughter, Madison Schauss.
Preceding her in death besides her parents were her husband, Alfred Amos; a son, Jeffrey Amos; her sisters, Lucille Huber and Helen Rogier; a brother, Leonard 'Peck' Goffinet and a grandson, Brandon Amos.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 until 8 p.m. Friday, July 6, and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City chapel. A Daughters of Isabella memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church or a favorite charity.
