TELL CITY – James "Jim" George, 87, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at Golden Living Center in Tell City.

He was born Nov. 29, 1926, to the late Anna (Cassidy) George.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Inez (Sweat) George; his second wife, Virginia (Bolin) George; his sons, Mike and Don George; a grandson, Brandon George; a stepgranddaughter, Jennifer Jones; his mother, Anna Cassidy; his stepfather, Albert Cassidy and a sister, Evelyn Lasley.
A 1945 graduate of Oil Township School, Jim was a veteran of the Air Force. He worked at Tell City Chair Company for 15 years and retired from National South Wire Aluminum after 18 years. He was a member of St. Augustine Church and served on the Parish Council. He was also a member of Tell City American Legion Post 213 and the Moose Lodge. He served on the Perry Central School Board and also served as president of the Central Perry Fire Department for several years. He enjoyed word puzzles and gardening.
Surviving are his children, Fred George of Leopold and Diane (Rob Sr.) Royer of Tell City; his stepchildren, Daryl (Jeanne) Jones of Georgetown, Ky., Sheila (Dave) Rearden and Jeff (Betty) Jones, all of Tell City; his sisters, Alice Cassidy of Tell City and Sister Eulalie O. Carm of West Palm, Fla; his grandchildren, Eric George, Jaime Roark, Dana Hubert, Rob Royer Jr. and Matt Royer; his stepgrandchildren, Kristen Farr and Chad and Jeremy Jones; his great-grandchildren, Terissa, Makenzy, Kaden, Alyssa, Dylan, Gage and Philip and stepgreat-grandchildren, Samantha, Kaelin, Jabie, Madelyn and Evelyn .
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at St. Augustine Catholic Church. The Rev. Brian Esarey will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. Tuesday.
