Joan Norma Huebschmann M.D., 69, of Madison, Wis., formerly of Tell City, passed away Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Agrace Hospice Care in Madison.

She was born Aug. 2, 1943, in Spencer County to Harry and Elsie (Stein) Huebschmann.
She graduated valedictorian from Tell City High School in 1961. SheÂ went on to graduateÂ with a bachelor's degree from the University of Evansville in 1965.
SheÂ earned her medical degree in pathology from Indiana University School of Medicine whileÂ training at Clarian Indiana University Hospital in 1970 and in 1973 at Madison General Hospital.
At the age of 14, Joan beganÂ a passionÂ with her familyÂ genealogy that would take her on numerous travels to Germany and to researchÂ more than 500 years of her heritage. SheÂ was the past president and member ofÂ the Madison Genealogy Club and an avid Schafkopf and euchre card player. She had been instrumental in inspiringÂ her family and friendsÂ to reach into the depths of their past. HerÂ legacy and dedication will live on for generations to come.
Shortly after her death, her book "St. John's Lutheran Church-Early deaths 1851 to 1903, transcribed by Dr. Joan Huebschmann 2012," was published.
She was preceded in death by her father in 2007. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her brothers, Glenn (Marge) of Houston, Texas, and Ray (Elinor) of Atlanta, Ga.; two nieces, Lisa andÂ Kim; one nephew, Robert, and numerous other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Agrace Hospice and her Madison friends for their love and dedication to Joan during her illness.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tell City. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery in Evanston.
Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City is in charge of arrangements.
