Robert J. "Bob" Conen, 90, passed away Oct. 29, 2017, at Oakwood Health Campus.
He was born in Tell City, Indiana on Jan. 11, 1927, to the late Otto and Bertha (Berg) Conen. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Berniece Brown.
Bob was a graduate of Troy High School and a veteran of the United States Army, where he served in the Korean Conflict. He had worked for National Southwire Aluminum, retiring in 1989 and was a farmer. Bob was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He enjoyed farming, gardening, working with his flowers and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Etta Jean (Kieser) Conen, Tell City; a daughter, Cathy Franey (Keith), Owensboro; a son, Bruce Conen (Rebecca), Newburgh; his grandchildren, Patrick Franey (Courtney), Owensboro, Jennifer Perkins (Dustin), Bowling Green, Matthew Franey, Owensboro and Nash Conen, Newburgh; one great-granddaughter, Emma Franey, Owensboro.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. CST Thursday, Nov. 2, at St. Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis Duvelius will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
