Virginia E. Epple, 90, passed away April 7, 2018, at Oakwood Health Campus, surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born in Spencer County on Feb. 7, 1928, daughter of the late William and Kate (Covey) Moorehead. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Herman Epple in 2015; her son, Greg Epple; a sister, Mary Lou Baum and her twin sister in infancy, Verlee Moorehead.
Virginia was valedictorian of Tell City High School Class of 1946. She had worked at Perry Central Community Schools as a secretary for 28 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of Tell City Church of Christ. Virginia enjoyed reading, crocheting and traveling.
Surviving are her children, Steven Epple (Judy) of Mill Creek, Wash., Katie Heeke (Jim) of Troy and Jancy Lawalin, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Epple of Troy; her grandchildren, Jamie Logel (Chris), Logan Heeke (Elizabeth), Laura Beth Philipps (Derrick), Jacob Lawalin (Kayla), Brooke Lawalin, Debbie Simmons (Brad), Michelle Brown (Mark) and Mike Garwood; great-grandchildren, Calib, Lleyton and Legend Logel, Garrett, Abigail and Samuel Heeke, Adeline and Ike Philipps, Bexley and Taylyn Lawalin, Lizzie Simmons and Maia Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. CST Wednesday, April 11, at Tell City Church of Christ. The Rev. Ben Rake will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel and Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.
