TELL CITY – William C. "Bill" Hawhee, 85, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at Oakwood Health Campus.
He was born in Cannelton March 21, 1929, son of the late Arnold and Hazel (Polk) Hawhee. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Donald and Kenneth Hawhee.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Bill was a member of American Legion Post 213 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939. He retired in 1993 from Alcoa, where he worked for more than 30 years.
A member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Evanston, Bill enjoyed his pets, reading and being a member of the Volkswagen club.
Bill is survived by his children, Cathy Ramsey (Tom) of Georgetown, Angie Dirr (Jim) of Smyrna, Ga., Becky Harlen (Larry) of Rockport, Kris Feagan (Greg) of Marshall, Mich., and Tim Hawhee of Hatfield; six grandchildren, Jennifer Hatfield, Ashley Hannum, Aidan Dirr, Alex Jones, Laura Harlen and Drew Foreman; and two great-grandchildren, with another great-granddaughter expected in May.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in New Cliff Cemetery. Joint military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 213 and VFW Post 2939. The Rev. Robert Reinhardt will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday.
