TELL CITY – Pauline "Polly" Scherer Anderson, 96, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City.

She was born Feb. 25, 1918, in Mount Vernon, to the late Fred and Dora (Thiennes) Scherer. Preceding her in death were her husband, Gordon Merle Anderson; a brother, Charles Scherer; a brother-in-law. Albert Oeth, and daughter-in-law, Connie Anderson.
Pauline graduated from Mount Vernon High School and Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing. She first moved to Tell City as the public health nurse for Perry County, and later worked for many years as a registered nurse at Perry County Hospital.
She was united in marriage Nov. 26, 1947, to the late Gordon Merle Anderson. She was a longtime member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ, Hoosier Heights Country Club and the Tell City Historical Society.
She enjoyed gardening, playing golf and fishing, especially with her loving family members. She also spent many happy times with her Thursday bridge club, the couple's bridge group and the "Sip 'n Stitch" ladies. Her quick wit and loving care for others will be truly missed.
Surviving are her children, Julie Losch (Phil) of Bowling Green, Ky.; Sarah Goff (Rick) of Birmingham, Ala., and John Anderson of Atlanta; a sister, Geraldine Oeth of Evansville, her sister-in-law, Ruth Scherer of Mount Vernon and grandchildren, Andrew Losch (Brandee), Rebecca Losch Oulay, Shannon Goff Flanagan (Joe), Margaret Goff Bolin (Brian) and Collins Anderson. She also was blessed with four great-grandchildren, Jacob and Adam Oulay, Kathleen Flanagan and Landon Riddle.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, April 12, at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Perry County Memorial Hospital, to the Tell City Historical Society or to the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City.
