TELL CITY – Gary McMahon, 74, formerly of Tell City, passed away March 29, in North Fort Myers, Fla.
He was born Aug. 19, 1939, to the late Wilbur "Wib" and Billie (Coombes) McMahon. Also preceding him in death was his wife of 40 years, Virlee (Becher) McMahon and brothers, Bill and Don Page.
Gary was a man of many talents. He worked as a courier for the Iberia Bank. While living in Tell City, he was involved with the Perry County Arts Council madrigal dinners and Schweitzer Fest plays. Gary was an accomplished piano player, created one-of-a-kind greeting cards and mastered calligraphy. He collected antique pottery and was fascinated by new technology, having to have the most recent iPhone or iPad. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading the daily newspaper.
Gary loved to travel, with Spain being his favorite destination. He celebrated Valentine's Day in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. He was planning a trip to California in April, Tell City in August and China Later in the year.
Most of all, Gary enjoyed socializing and spending time with his many friends. His personality was contagious and people were attracted to him. He had the ability to make anyone laugh and forget his or her problems. His philosophy was to enjoy the moment day by day. He lived it 100 percent. He will be greatly missed by many.
Gary is survived by his sisters-in-law, Susie and Alice Page and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Ft. Myers, Fla.
