BRISTOW – John Maurice VanHoosier, 89, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2014, at his home.

He was born April 27, 1925, to the late Riley and Rosa (Aders) VanHoosier.
John was united in marriage Oct. 15, 1949, to Leona Aders. He was a member of Oak Ridge Pentecostal Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his children, Alice (Greg) Bauer, Daniel VanHoosier and Sue (Gary) Genet, all of Bristow; a sister, Fronie VanWinkle of Tell City; grandchildren, Rick and Chris Genet, Leanna Genet, Rachel James, Cassie Hill and Nathan Bauer; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Brianna Parr, Heaven, Ethan and Allie Bauer, Trevor and Taylor Hill, Jordan, Braxton and Brandi Genet; great-great grandchildren, Chase and Chad Foerster and Carlee Parr.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona; siblings Elle Belle Sturgeon, Dolly Mayberry, Lucille Huff, Maude VanWinkle, Floyd, Charles, Everett, Joe and Claude VanHoosier.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 13, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Hayes officiating. Burial was in Bristow City Cemetery.
