BRISTOW – Elbert Emerson Elverd, 90, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, at his home. He was born in Cannelton Feb. 17, 1924, to the late James and Edith (Lampkin) Elverd.

Elbert was a World War II Army veteran. He was married Aug. 14, 1948, to Gladys Ellen VanWinkle, who preceded him in death.
Also preceding him in death were siblings Rose Brown, Mary Aders, Eloise Aders, June Applegate, Pat VanHoosier, Everett, John, Richard and Kenny Elverd and two great-great-grandchildren.
Elbert was a member of Oak Ridge Pentecostal Church and enjoyed playing music at Schwartz's Restaurant on Thursday nights.
Surviving are his children, Kay (Terry) Eastham of Petersburg, Becky (Gary) Ebert of Ferdinand, Billy Joe (Kathy) Elverd and Gregory Elverd, all of Bristow, and Elbert Rainer of Germany; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 13, at Oak Ridge Pentecostal Church, with the Rev. David Hayes officiating. Burial was in Bristow City Cemetery, with military rites.
Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City handled arrangements.
