DonaldÊL. 'Fred' Merritt, 35, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, near Cannelton.
He was born in Tell City Jan. 7, 1977, son of Marvin Pierrard and Roberta (Merritt) Sabelhaus. He was preceded in death by grandmother Joyce Mitchell and his grandfathers, Donald Joseph Pierrard and Frank Sabelhaus Sr.
A member of Union Local 795, Fred worked for Zeke Ransom Excavating. He enjoyed motorcycles, arrowhead hunting, fishing, hunting, playing drums and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his mother, Bobbie Sabelhaus of Grandview; his father, Marvin Pierrard of Tell City; stepfather, Frank Sabelhaus of Tell City; a sister, Rachel Pierrard of Cannelton; his brothers, David Merritt of Hawesville, Ky., Frank Sabelhaus, Jr. of Tell City and Justin Sabelhaus of Terre Haute; grandparents, Linda and Harold Ball of Cannelton, Jean Pierrard of Tell City, Vernon Mitchell of Grandview and Jerry and Darlene Merritt of Cannelton and his fiancé, Sasha Schaefer of Tell City.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, (today) at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until service time today.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
