Agnella M. "Nellie" Holtzman, 92, formerly of Fulda, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand.
She was born July 11, 1920, in St. Meinrad to Martin and Matilda (Lehr) Jent.
She married Clarence Holtzman June 15, 1939, in St. Meinrad Catholic Church in St. Meinrad. He died Aug. 4,1985. Nellie was the owner and operator of Holtzman Tavern in Fulda for many years and was a homemaker.
Nellie was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda and its Ladies Sodality. She was past president of American Legion Post 366 Auxillary, St. Meinrad Senior Citizens, Fulda Sportsman Club and Spencer County Memorial Forest.
Her hobbies included quilting, making crafts, crocheting, sewing and playing cards.
Surviving are two sons, Gerald "Jerry" Holtzman and his wife, Rita Jo of Owensboro, Ky., and Larry Holtzman and his wife, Gae of Huntingburg; one daughter, Patricia "Tish" Lockhart and her husband, Larry, of Murray, Ky.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Adeline Rhea of Carmel.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Diann Schmitt; two brothers, Ralph and Erwin "Buddy" Jent and one sister, Virginia Ringeman.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, in St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 11, (today) at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand, and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Boniface Church.
