Passed away at home in Sebastopol, CA, October 20, 2013, beloved wife of the late George John Koenig. Loving mother of Lynda Carinalli (Domenico), Kim Koenig (Betty) and Heidi Jorgensen (Jere) all of Sebastopol. Adored grandmother of Ann Carinalli Middlebrook (Paul), Gina Ruby, Diane Jones (Cory), Joshua Koenig (Teresa), Justin Koenig (Tracie), Jorden Koenig, Mary Margaret Koenig, Julie Jorgensen Moreland (Danny) and Jenny Jorgensen Schmidt. Cherished great- grandmother of nine. Dear sister of Vernon Antone Hansen (Marie) and the late Kenneth Warren Hansen. Sister-in-law of Aloha Hansen. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A native of Petaluma, CA. Age 91 years.
Lifelong Sonoma County resident, Marie graduated from Petaluma High School and later married George Koenig. George worked in a feed mill and the family raised chickens for additional income. They volunteered tirelessly with their duties at the Hessel Volunteer Fire Dept, where George was a firefighter and later served as Fire Chief. Marie was a dispatcher, answered the fire phone and organized blood bank drives. She enjoyed her garden and was a long time member of the Hessel Church.
Private services for the family will be held on Saturday with burial following at Cypress Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Hessel Church, 5060 Hessel Ave, Sebastopol, CA, with a reception to follow. The family prefer memorials be made to the George and Marie Koenig Scholarship Fund, c/o Hessel Firefighters Association or to the Hessel Church.
