Carl passed away peacefully in his beloved hometown of Petaluma, after suffering complications from cancer. He was a proud U.S. Army
veteran. Carl attended the Monterey Language Institute serving as an Interpreter in Korea, north of the 38th parallel above Uijonbu on the DMZ. He was an alumnus of Santa Rosa Junior College and San Jose State University. His professional life revolved around the building and remodeling industry. He was widely respected in the field and helped spearhead the creation of the Redwood Empire Remodeler's Association, serving as its President. He also served as President at the State level for the California Real Estate Inspection Association. One of Carl's passions in life was football. He played at Petaluma High, SRJC, and for the semi-pro Petaluma Leghorns. Carl will be remembered for his passion for life, his sense of humor, and his integrity.
Carl is survived by his loving wife, Lona Poehlmann, daughter, Lisa Poehlmann (Wade Stevenson), granddaughters, Natalie and Maia of San Anselmo; daughter Stacy Rawson (Brian), granddaughters, Colleen and Margaret of Petaluma; brother, Alvin "Al" Poehlmann (Marret) of Petaluma; niece, Tricia Hardy (David), grandnieces, Madeline, Isabella, and Annelise of Chesapeake, VA; nephew, Eric Poehlmann (Karen), grandnieces, Lauren and Emily of Petaluma; stepdaughter, Kristi Larsen and her children, Karli, Hannah, and Luke Vaughn of Playa del Rey, CA; stepson, Normann Larsen of Napa. Carl is also survived by former wife Marilyn Davis of Petaluma, and by numerous cousins and extended family in the U.S. and Austria.
A memorial service will be held Monday, November 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hermann Sons Hall, 860 Western Avenue, Petaluma. Memorial contributions may be made in Carl's memory to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, 1250 Fourth Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401.
