Adeline (Addie) Rudd lived her 97 years with passion, excitement, and laughter. Her love of adventure and life gave her many happy memories of trips around the world including a ride in a hot air balloon at 80.
Painting was another passion evidenced by her many paintings in her home and her families' homes. Her artistry extended to all that surrounded her including garden and home, and she could be described as one of the original "fashionistas". Golf gave her much pleasure and she was still putting at the age of 92.
Emma Adeline Dobeck was born on March 22, 1915 in Omaha, NE to Etna Dobeck (Adams) and Howard Franklin Dobeck. She had an older sister, Helen Catherine (Zeller) and a younger brother, Howard Richard. She grew up in Los Angeles and married Glenn Wilbur Rudd in 1942. They both worked at Lockheed first in Burbank and then in Sunnyvale. After the death of her husband in 1977 Adeline moved to Oakmont where she lived for 30 years. In 2010 she moved to her "cottage" in Petaluma and became active in the Petaluma Senior Daycare and exercise classes.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Nancy Dobeck, niece Deborah Zeller Hosler (Ed), their sons Jeremiah and James and nieces Mary Clarke (Mark), Anne Melanson (Dan), Connie Weiss (Bryan), nephew Charles Dobeck (Sharon) plus numerous great nieces and nephews.
Family celebrations of her life were held in Sonoma and Orange counties. "Aunt Addie" will be remembered for her many heartfelt gifts to her family - a passionate joy of life, her contagious, adventurous spirit and her deep love for all her family.
Remembrances may be made to Hospice of Petaluma or Petaluma People Services Day Care.
