How to place an obituary in Philadelphia Inquirer & Philadelphia Daily News

For death notices, please call the Inquirer & Daily News at 215-854-5800 or email deathnotices@phillynews.com. Please note the difference between an obituary and a paid death notice. An obituary is done by our editorial staff, is NOT guaranteed, and there is no charge. A death notice is handled by advertising, is guaranteed, and there is a charge.

The deadline for death notices is 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday for publication the following day. For the first Sunday edition, the deadline is 5:00 p.m. Friday. For the second and final Sunday edition, the deadline is 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The deadline for Monday publication is 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. The death must be verified. Death notices are usually placed by the funeral director. Prepayment is required.
