ELLEN WATSON GOLDSTINE(1924 - 2018)

GOLDSTINE
ELLEN WATSON

Died Monday, Sept. 3, 2018 at age 94 in the company of family at Beaumont in Bryn Mawr. Ellen was predeceased by her dear husband Herman Goldstine and siblings Richard Watson, Katherine Roe, Albert Watson, and Joseph Watson. She was a loving mother to her stepchildren Madlen Goldstine Simon and Jonathan Goldstine and their spouses Marc Simon and Melanie Goldstine. She was a proud grandmother to Maia Simon, Mason Simon, Miranda Goldstine, and Carl Goldstine. She was a wonderful aunt to her twelve nieces and nephews. In her early career, Ellen Watson was a pioneering woman executive secretary at IBM. Following marriage, Ellen Goldstine brought her extensive corporate experience together with her love of art to volunteer service as chair of the docents at the Princeton University Art Museum, docent at the University of Pennsylvania Museum, and member of the board of the Wyck-Strickland House. She shed light on the lives of those around her in a life characterized by service to others in ways large and small. Ellen and Herman loved to travel, with dear friends around the world. They loved to entertain friends in elegant dinner parties at their homes over the years in Philadelphia, PA; Princeton, NJ; and Chappaqua, NY. We will remember Ellen Goldstine in a Funeral Mass for friends and family on Saturday September 8th, 1:00 P.M. at St. John Vianney Church, 350 Conshohocken State Rd., Gladwyne, PA. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either St. John Vianney Church, 350 Conshohocken State Road, Gladwyne, PA 19035 or the American Philosophical Society, 104 South 5th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106, directed to the Herman Goldstine Lecture Series.
