IONE T. (nee Trovaioli) of Rosemont, Pa., who in 1947 became the first woman admitted to the bar in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, passed on July 16, 2013 at Bryn Mawr Hospital. Born in Connellsville, Pa., on Nov. 23, 1923 to A. Agostino and Anna (Nee Falco) Trovaioli. Mrs. Romeika gradu-ated with a B.A. from Penn State University
in 1944. She earned an LL.B. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1947. She returned home to Uniontown, Pa. to practice law until she married Alphonsus R. Romeika and returned to Philadelphia. She was a member of the Delaware County Bar Association and practiced family law until she retired. She was also a professor of Economics at Cabrini College.
Ione, as she was known by her dear friends and family, was an active professional and a loving mother and wife. She is the wife of the late Alphonsus Romeika. Loving mother of Peter Romeika, Mary Ann R. DiGirolamo, and Gloria R. Johnston. Devoted grandmother of Stephanie Romeika (Jody) LaNasa, John, Michael, and Matthew DiGirolamo, Joanna (Jonathan) Stott, Victoria, and Jimmy Johnston. Great grand-mother of Ajax and Maxima LaNasa.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation Saturday at 9 A.M. in St. Thomas of Villanova Church (campus), Lancaster Ave., Villanova, Pa. 19085, and to her Mass of Christian Burial following at 10 A.M. Int. Calvary Cemetery.
