JAMES F., JR. of Medford, NJ, and Sun City, FL, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Thursday October 17, 2013. He was 79. Loving father of Lisa Anne (Brian) Dunne, Mary (Jack) Cohen, Teri (David) Vasso, and James F. (Stefani) Langan, III. Dear brother of Edward (Katie) Langan, Jack (Marie) Langan, Eileen (Jim) Calder, Jayne (John) Fowler; and proud grandfather of Gabrielle, Melanie, Mary-Kate, Jack, Libby, Cara, Ben, Tyler, Zach, Brendan, Shane and Brayden.
Jim Langan, also known as "The Bear" was an avid sports enthusiast as a player and coach throughout his lifetime. He was most proud of his family, especially his grandchildren.
Jim was born in Philadelphia, Pa and is a graduate of Northeast Catholic and attended Germantown Academy. He was a baseball scholarship athlete at Temple University. In 1954 he was awarded The P.A.L. award - for athlete of the year for Philadelphia high school athletes. He was a junior sports Journalist
for the Germantown Courier in the early 50s while in high school. He served in the US Army from 1957-1959, where he was a medic and played on both the baseball and football teams while stationed in Orleans, France. Jim was a salesman for Pella Window & Door Co. for most of his career. He was a little league coach for MYAA in Medford, NJ for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren on the beach and playing golf in Ocean City, NJ. He was a loyal Philadelphia sports fan even retiring to Florida to be near his beloved Phillies.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather Monday October 21, 2013 from 1PM to 2PM at St. Mary's of the Lakes Church, 40 Jackson Rd., Medford, NJ 08055. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2PM. Interment to be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
