NICHOLAS MOYA Obituary

MOYA
NICHOLAS ANTHONY

Our beloved son, brother, and friend - died on Thursday August 31, 2017 after a long battle with depression. He was 21 years old.
Nicholas graduated from Radnor High School in 2014, where he was a devoted member of the Radnor lacrosse team and the school marching band. Nick loved all things Radnor High, and he later matriculated at the University of Pennsylvania in the fall of 2014, pursuing a dual major in mathematics and economics.
At Penn, Nick was an active member of campus social life. During his freshman year, he served as a tour guide for the Kite and Key Society and also volunteered with the West Philadelphia Tutoring Project. He was a brother and former president of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity, and also was an avid fan of (and data analyst for) the Penn Men's Basketball team. Nick was so much more than his titles, awards and achievements. Above all else, he will be remembered for his warmth, smile, and kind heart - all taken too soon.
He is survived by his loving mother, Ruth Sanell, M.D. of Villanova, and father, Mario Moya, M.D. of Edinburg, Texas; brothers, Samuel Alejandro Moya of Philadelphia and Mario Alberto Moya of Alameda, California; Aunt, Rebecca Sanell, D.D.S. of Long Branch, New Jersey; uncles, J.D. Morales, of Odessa, Texas and John Sanell of Temecula, California; and grandparents, Dinah Morales of Del Rio, Texas and John and Elsie Sanell of Baja California Sur, Mexico.
Words cannot describe the warmth and promise that Nick brought to this world, nor the loss felt by those who loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Viewing on Monday September 4, 2017 at 1 P.M. to 3 P.M., with services to follow, at the D'ANJOLELL MEMORIAL HOME, OF BROOMALL 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008. We were filled with sadness and a heavy heart when we learned about Nick's passing. Nick was a student coach for my son's 8th grade Radnor Rec Basketball team. I remember being so impressed at how dedicated and organized Nick was as a high school senior. The boys loved Nick and co-coach Ryan Freedman and had a great season. Please know that we are thinking of you and extend our sincere condolences to your family.

Ruth, Mario, and Sam,
There are no words to describe how saddened we all are at Mathnasium. As you all know, we knew Nick as a student and later as a fellow instructor. He left an incredibly positive impression in both roles - There are not many people on Earth as kind and earnest in their desire to help others as Nick was. We feel a profound sense of loss, and can not imagine how it must be for all of you. Our deepest condolences.

I only knew Nick as a Sammy alumni visiting the house when he was prior. But he made a wonderful impression on me and my class of '91 pals. He made us feel completely welcome in the house and caught us up on the current state of affairs. I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family.

Dear Ruth and Mario,
Although I knew Nick only briefly through my son, I have been deeply touched by his sensitivity and kindness. My son, Auguste, list Nick as his "son" on his Facebook page. I know that they got along famously when Nick was an undergrad on the drum line at RHS. I know also that Nick was very affected by Auguste's death 4 years ago. I felt a deep connection to Nick at my sons's memorial and afterwards as well. He was an extraordinary young man.

I am so saddened by his passing. He definitely made his mark in the world during his short 21 years. I know how gut wrenching it is right now for your family. If I can offer any help, please feel free to contact me. I will be thinking of your family and citing prayers for Nick.

Sincerely,
Tina
