My name is Sandra, I come from Berlin, Germany. Alicia tought me to play the guitar when I was a teenager - I think it was in 1999 or 2000. Radomly thinking of her, I checked the internet whether I would be able to find her. Ending up on this page was not what I had expected. My condolences to all her family and friends!

Hey Alicia-Of course_i thought of you having heard-I just can't be satified-I valued our whirlwind friendship over the years so much and the times you let me share the stage and sing. I'm still writng those songs kiddo, Miss hearing your voice and seeing you and glad we got to say farewell. When I'm tangled up in blue-I pick up an acoustic just like you would do. Miss seeing you perform with that great big smile-Always -And Ever_Jeff Shuben

I remember the first time I met Alicia. I was coming down the stairs at Parkway High School. There was a young woman playing a Rolling Stones song on guitar. It was around 1980 and she really impressed me with her own unique style. At that time there weren't many woman blues guitar players. Several years later, I was walking down the streets of Philly on Sansom street with my friend Sean. We heard this great harmonica sound playing the blues and her singing;there was Alicia. She came back to my place, met my future wife Staci, and played guitar at my apartment on South Street. We used to have many spontaneuos parties. Alicia would entertain all of us at so many of those parties-she was a fixture. We were treated to some of the most outrageous jams, and I feel deeply appreciative for knowing her/and for her friendship. I always told her that she needed a look, and marketing. Her answer was, "No way-I play the blues and it doesn't matter how I look-I'm Alicia." She was right. Staci Gave her a rainbow scarf which she often wore. The image of Alicia always wearing a scarf with her hair half tucked in is something that we will remember. We were honored that she attended our wedding in New York in 1988. Staci made a couple of videos for Alicia as a school project-one was "Carefree and the other was Wake Up Blues". Alicia agreed to wear Staci's grandmothers old dress and use a vintage microphone -the kind you would picture Billie Holiday using. We'll never forget Alicia trying to be such a trooper as Staci put make-up on her and she pranced around to her music during the filming of the video. We would go and see her at various places when she performed in Philly, and at some larger outdoor parties. She was so original and authentic. Staci and I are saddened by her loss, and she will live in our hearts forever. Goodbye dear friend.

I am a very close friend of Stacey Prussel. Stacey loved Alicia very much and shared some beautiful memories she had about her with us (her friends from NY).
My sincere condolences to her family and close friends.
I am sure Alicia is now in peace and will entertain the heavens with her sweet music.

Alicia was totally committed to the life of a musician, though the riches it brought were not financial ones. She was the true road warrior who could arrive in a new and strange place and thrive. She had a great spirit, and, like far too many blues artists, departed this life before her time.

Alicia's passion, courage, and sincerity will live on in those who knew her. I'll never forget playing blues together prior to both of us having professional music careers (thanks for teaching me those chords), but most of all, I will always hold the bond we shared as friends close to my heart. I will play the blues with a piece of you in my soul. I will miss you deeply, until I see you in blues heaven. Always & forever, Nanette your "Sister Blue"
