To the family, thank you for sharing Mrs. Nixon with millions of people every week, through her creation and gifted writing of daytime drama, aka soap operas. Through her intellect, imagination, and heart, she created venues where the every day highs and lows of every family's lives were represented. I dare say the broken hearts of countless families, experienced for a variety of reasons, were made just a bit easier to bear because of the storylines she brought to the screen. And those moments of happiness and joy made a part of storylines, were also shared with millions of viewers and made their own joy just a bit sweeter.

Even though they were TV shows, the writing and acting were so good you'd easily lose yourself in each scene, and felt a bond with all the characters. Watching those on-screen families go through tragedy, heartbreak, joy, and laughter helped millions of faithful viewers get through their own lives.

What an incredible person Mrs. Nixon was, and what an incredible legacy she left. Thank you, family, for sharing her with us for so many years. She touched the lives of so many. She made a difference, in so many ways. She is sorely missed.

Dear Bob,

I so enjoyed our time in the Philippines with you and American Sportsman. Neil Rettig and I are no longer together, but still close. I started watching soap operas while editing slides (1,000's - kind of tedious). I wanted to know more about you and did learn more about your wonderful Mom.

She was very special and my heart goes out to you and your family.

All the Very Best, Always,
Cheryl

I send my sincere condolences to the whole family but Emily, in particular, whom I adored as a dear childhood friend. I have such fond memories of our times together at Les Chalet Francais and specifically, our mothers meeting for the first time during a lobster bake on the rocky shores of Deer Isle. We had so many wonderful times at your parents' house in Rosemont and my parents' place in Yardley. I always admired how you spoke so fondly of your parents at a time when it wasn't the "in" thing to actually like, let alone, love your parents. I thought of you when I read The Interestings a few years ago and tried to reach out. If you are still in the NYC area, I would love to get together. You can reach me at [email protected]. May Aggie rest in peace!

We spoke years later when you referred a caregiver for my mom who I was caring for. We live a few doors from you. I still have your gracious note. May you rest in peace. Losing a longtime public person can open a void in one's life. For those who knew her well and for those who were familiar with her shows, it can be difficult. Life can be so unpredictable despite someone's age. There will come a time when age is not a factor, that a person will live forever without death even being an issue.

Dear Cathy, Mary, Bobby & Emily,

So sorry to hear of your Mom's death. For as spectacular as she was as a writer, I remember her as a Mom, concerned about your upbringing like good Mom's do. I am sure you will miss her greatly.

My brothers Mike & Marty and I all remember the fun times shared in our youth in Chicago, Lake Delevan, Wisc. and Coessee, Indiana. We know, besides your Dad, she was greeted in heaven by Harry and Hazel.

Emily, if you still have Hazel's condo and are in town during the winter, contact me at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. I'd love to have you come see one of our plays.

Blessings on your families.

Dear Nixon Family,

Although I did not watch any of the series which your beautiful Mother and Grandmother originated, I did occasionally see Agnes while shopping at Arrowroot in Bryn Mawr. Her petite radiance and darling smile were all that were needed to convey her gentle power and steady spirit. Agnes' beauty, influence, and generosity are elaborated in her lovely daughter Mary who, through her own visionary and resilient efforts, has originated for the Philadelphia Main Line a lasting engagement for people of all ages by "birthing" and nurturing The New Leaf Club in Rosemont. There is an old aphorism - "the acorn does not fall far from the tree." The wisdom of this is so a propos to Agnes Nixon and her own children.
