Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry to hear the sad news about Bruce, belatedly. He was a good friend who always encouraged me when I founded the Center for Military Readiness more than 20 years ago. Rest in Peace, Bruce. CMR is still fighting for your beloved Marine Corps. Fondly, Elaine Donnelly

I think of the years Bruce and Eileen led the youth group with Beth and me at The Wayne United Methodist Church. We had children of similar ages and Bruce and Eileen had strong feelings about helping all the youth in the church. We greatly enjoyed those years and getting to know them. Bruce was a great person.

A wonderful man that we are truly blessed to have known. Our entire family mourns his passing. To echo a line from one of his favorite movies, I will forever ask myself "Where do we get such men?" Semper Fi sir...you were one of a kind and will be sorely missed.

Pilot Thoughts

Once the wings go on, they never come off whether they can be seen or not. It fuses to the soul through adversity, fear and adrenaline and no one who has ever worn them with pride, integrity and guts can ever sleep through the "call of the wild" that wafts through the bedroom windows in the deep of the night. When a good air crewman leaves the "job" and retires, many are jealous, some are pleased and yet others, who may have already retired, wonder. We wonder if he knows what he is leaving behind, because we already know. We know, for example, that after a lifetime of camaraderie that few experience, it will remain as a longing for those past times.

We know in the world of flying, there is a fellowship which lasts long after the flight suits are hung up in the back of the closet. We know even if he throws them away, they will be on him with every step and breath that remains in his life. We also know how the very bearing of a man speaks of what he was and in his heart still is. Because we flew, we envy no man on earth.

There just aren't enough adjectives to accurately describe this man ... I think of so many things when I think of him ... family, military, proud, grandpa, Methodist, choir, Paper Mill Road, laughter, kindness, fatherly, devoted, philanthropic, generous. My prayers go to the entire Hooper family as together you celebrate the tremendous life and legacy of Bruce H. Hooper.
