FREDERICK D., SR. of Springfield, PA died peacefully on Jan. 9, 2013 at Riddle Memorial Hospital surrounded by loving family at the age of 95. He was the son of the late Fred and Germaine Jones (nee Payant) of Fairbault, MN. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 62 wonderful years, Josephine (nee Buccino), his beloved sister Patsy Moxness (nee Jones), his brothers Richard Jones and Robert Jones, all of whom are from Minnesota and his sister-in-law Anne Antletz of California (wife of his late brother Tom Jones) Devoted father to his daughter Barbara Ferster (William) of Saylorsburg, PA. his son Fred, Jr. (Marie) of Downingtown, PA, his daughter Roberta Kuhfuss (David) of Berwyn, PA and Michael (Cindi) of San Ramon, CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Brenna, Jake, Henry, Avalon and Devyn.
Born in Faribault, MN during the Great War, he first moved east to attend The Philadelphia Textile School (now Philadelphia University), a graduate of the class of 1940. He went on to retire as Chemist/Chief of the Laboratory of the Textile Division after 40 years at the Defense Personnel Support Center (formerly the Quartermaster Corp).
A World War II Veteran serving from '41-'45, he was twice awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received during action in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge.
During his 33 years of retirement, he was an avid reader and gardener who also enjoyed photography, bird watching and was always knowledgeable on the latest trends in automobiles and aircraft.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 11 A.M. at the D'ANJOLELL MEMORIAL HOME OF BROOMALL, 2811 West Chester Pike Broomall, PA 19008. Memorial Service will follow in the Main Chapel 12:30 P.M. Interment Private.
