Jeff and I knew each other, and remained in touch, for over 30 years, despite having somewhat different likes and dislikes. Maybe, in part, because of that. Besides common science interests, there were two things that tied us...he was best man at my wedding (he also made sure I didn't back out of that event), and we both liked a bar band in Charlottesville (VA) that few had heard of at the time...Dave Matthews. Sweet you rock, and sweet you roll, Jeff.

Jeff was am extraordinary person -- good, kind, giving, intellligent. He came to Sam's exhibition openings and I was grateful for his display of support. He was a good guy and a special cousin. My condolences and love to Stan, Karen, Julie and his wonderful family. Izak, Ani and I will miss Jeff. We were all very fond of him and always happy to see him. Sam felt the same. I shall always see the image of Jeff smiling gently in greeting me. Love, Lilyan Maitin
