Oh how we miss our beloved "Colonel Flanigan" living up the hill. We so treasured getting together for dinner. He was so kind and captured our imaginations with his stories of the "old days". I'm sure Jesus is enjoying him right now. I'm guessing John has settled into heaven's wood shop and is making all sorts of amazing things:). Dear God, thanks for blessing us with such a man!!!

To the Taylor Family, John Flanigan was lovingly referred to as the Colonel - taken from the "Southview" sign that once stood where the driveway in Elverson met the road. Our children grew up listening to Mr. Flanigan talk about ham radios, the sea scouts and a simpler time. He was such a blessing to each of us - I doubt he knows how much of a blessing he has been. He was 84 when we met him. I was amazed that at 84 he was still cutting his own grass - and keeping up with the spring growth just fine. Our sons were amazed at his model railroad - which he showed with great delight. We are blessed to have several John Flanigan-original birdhouses and other things he made in his wood shop. We shared many a great laugh sitting at the kitchen table. Every time my wife baked cookies, a plate found its way up the hill to the Colonel's door - his sweet tooth was known to all. It is our prayer that all those who mourn this fine man's passing will be comforted by the God that loves us so much. I can't wait to join Mr. Flanigan in heaven just to sit at the table and chat with him some more. He is truly missed and truly loved. Lord Jesus, have mercy on our friend, John Flanigan - and thank You for allowing us to share in part of his life. He are much richer for it.
