I was shocked when I read of Mike's death in the ST.Joe Prep newsletter. I was a year behind Mike and was used as quarterback cannon fodder on scout teams. Mike invariably was the first to smash into me but he always helped me up and asked if I was still in one piece. He was a class act. I lost track of Mike but knew he married and was part of a vibrant family. I wish all of you well. You were clearly the most important aspect of his life. Reading the entries in this guest book, it is clear his was a life well lived. I had imagined Mike would have been a captain of industry. It is clear he was a captain of people. I should have known that was a higher priority for Mike

Mr. Delone was a very good man, he encouraged me to do many things he was the best gym teacher I ever had. If it wasn't for him I would never have known the love I had for track and field. He took me the Penn Relays and made me a safety. He was a fine man and will truly be missed.

Mr. Delone looked out for me in the 7th grade. He wanted to make sure I was okay and was the one who notice my problems with anxiety. He even donated clothes and other items to me and my family which my family was very appreciative and indebted. We have truly lost, but God has truly gained an Angel. RIP Mr. Delone and thank you.

To a man who changed the lives of many. To say that Mr DeLone was a kind person or a sweet person is an under statement. Mr DeLone was a rare breed of teachers that made me want to become a teacher after I get out the Military. Mr Delone was my Gym Teacher from First Grade until sixth grade. When I graduated Walton he left Walton to become my guidance counselor and encouraged me to go to GAMP or Dobbins. Other than Mrs Harper, Mrs Clement, Mrs DiMarco and Mr. Salters Mr. Delone help mold me to the man I am today. Mr. Delone rest in peace your job here on earth is done I will see you in the Gym once again on the other side. God Speed!

Inna lillahi wa inna alaihi rajioon (indeed to God we belong and to Him we all shall return), may God have mercy on Mr. Delone's soul, forgive his shortcomings and grant him paradise. Mrs. Delone offer my deepest condolences to you and your family. It's ironic that I just reconnected with Diane Powell-Larche', a former classmate from Walton Elementary, after 40 plus years and as we began to reminisce about our childhood, the first name mentioned was Mr. Delone. We recalled the many times Mr. Delone would gather us all together on the weekends to take us to a football game at St. Joseph prep or Villanova or to your home for dinner. In fact, it was on one of those occasions when we were at your home for a spaghetti dinner, that I recommended, while you were pregnant and I informed Mr. Delone that my brother and sister-in-law had just gave birth to a daughter who they named Danielle. He later told me after your daughter was born that you named her Danielle also. At that time my name was Theodore Croxton it has since been changed to Tariq Asad. I really had looked forward to reconnecting with Mr. Delone, if no more than to let him know how much his kindness, generosity and guidance has impacted my life, to the extent that 40 plus years later I still think about him often. I am truly grateful to you and Mike for opening up your home and your lives to me and the children of our community. Mike Delone is a real-life hero to many!

Mrs. DeLone, I was saddened when I learned of Mike's passing. I smiled when I typed Mike, as he gave me permission to call him by his first name some years ago at a Villanova football game, eventhough I am a former student from Walton Elementary School. As a former student and teacher, I was so impressed with Mike and his wanting the best for his students, that when I taught school I modeled my teaching after his. I will never forget that he visted each student's home and we yours. He encouraged me and others to particpate in the summer program at the Prep. That was an experience in which I will never forget.
May the fond memories you have of Mike, and God's grace help to sustain you and your family now and forever.

Dear Mrs. Delone & family. I am truly devastated. RIP Mr. Delone. He was my sixth grade teacher. The best teacher I've ever had. I know that I am who I am today because of having been his student. God placed him in my spirit recently Marsha when I tried to reach you. I was in Philly as a sports writer covering the Eagles vs. Falcons game and walking in the lupus walk in memory of my sister in Fairmont Park. I thought of you and Mr. Delone and tried to reach you. May you have wonderful memories to cherish. His students many of us who still keep in touch, Stephanie, Ricky, Tariq, we all live in different parts of the country but have the bond of having been Mr. Delone's students at Walton Elementary School. God Bless the Delone Family.

Mike was well respected by his peers at St. Joe Prep. I considered him, a man's man, able to interact with anyone. He was a great football player both at St. Joe and Villanova. He was friendly to everyone - a classmate from the Prep - Joe Boyle

Marsha and The DeLone Family,
Mike Delone was one of the nicest guys that I ever knew. I met Mike at St. Joe Prep in Philadelphia and we maintained our friendship. Mike was a competitive athlete but he was a gentle giant. Mike attended Villanova and we enjoyed watching The Nova-St. Joe Basketball game together. Mike and Marsha were an extraordinary couple and they were always together. Joseph Michael Delone will be greatly missed by his loyal friends from The Prep and Villanova-"May Joseph Michael Delone Rest In Eternal Peace". Bruce
