RANDI SEROTA Obituary

SEROTA

RANDI RIMERMAN, 46, died peacefully Sunday September 1, 2013 after a year-long battle with cancer. Born in NY, she moved to Hong Kong with her family and spent her early years swimming competitively for the Hong Kong National team and traveling in Asia. She graduated from Paul D. Schreiber HS, and Cornell University, where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and a devotee of the Grateful Dead. She received her JD at the University of Virginia and was an honored member of the Law Review. She clerked for 2 years for the Hon. Stanley Harris of the U.S. District Court in D.C. and began her career as a trial attorney for the Civil Division of the U.S. Justice Department.
In 1997, Randi met Howard, a teacher from NY. They married and settled in Wynnewood, PA and had two sons. She organized community events including an annual block party and holiday and cocktail parties for her many friends. She was a member of a book group, had a passion for the Lindy Hop, enjoyed romantic comedies and TV shows, good restaurants and food, traveling with family, shopping, watching her sons' chess and tennis matches, and walking Hobo. Randi worked as an employment lawyer at the law firm of Duane Morris in Phila. and then for Sungard (now Ellucian) in Malvern, PA as Associate General Counsel and Director of Compliance.
She lived every day to the fullest and was always a source of comfort and entertainment for her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Howard, sons Max and Adam, parents Ira and Iris, and sisters Judi Rimerman and Traci Schofield. Interment is private. Shiva will be observed at the Serota residence, 914 Nicholson Road, Wynnewood, PA 19096, Tuesday from 3 P.M. through Wednesday at sunset, and again Thursday evening through Friday at sunset with services at 7 P.M. My prayers go out to Howie and the boys. As one of Randi's law school classmates, I recall her positive attitude, her fun spirit and her infectious laugh. She will be sorely missed.

We were saddened to hear the news of Randi's passing and send our deepest condolences to the entire family. Randi was the quintessential multi-tasker (and a very talented one at that), but most importantly she had an kindness and generosity of spirit that was unmatched. We will truly miss her.

In 1994 I met Randi in the Grand Canyon of all places- on a Backroads bike trip through Arizona and Utah. She was traveling with her friend Wendy Lader, and we all became friends. Her death breaks my heart- for all that there was- a fun girl, a smart woman, a bikerider who was always smiling even during those HORRIBLE inclines with a headwind and when we had also run out of water!
My sympathies to all who knew her, loved her, worked with her, but most of all- her husband and sons. Melanie Marken

We are so sad to hear the news. Our time working with Randi as lawyers was brief, bu she was not only brilliant but a warm and caring person.
