THOMSON 'PONTY', on Nov. 9, 2012, age 94, of Hersheys Mill, formerly of Malvern and Stone Harbor. Son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Thomson Edwards of Drexel Hill. Survived by his wife of 65 years, Claire (nee Vanaman); his 3 children Thomson IV (Jill), Wendy Edwards, Meredith Cogliano (Robert); 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1940; he enlisted in the USNR and was commissioned an Ensign in March 1941, was on shore duty at Pearl Harbor during the Japanese attack of Dec. 7, 1941. He requested sea duty and was assigned Communications Officer on the Destroyer USS Hobby, which saw duty in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theatre. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. After the war he attended the University of Pennsylvania Law School (under the GI Bill), graduating in 1948. He was law clerk to a judge and partner in the Philadelphia Firm of Pepper, Hamilton and Scheetz. Services are private.
