Benjamin Taylor Obituary

TAYLOR
BENJAMIN LOYALL TAYLOR, husband of the late Beverly Booth Taylor, died on Tuesday June 3, 2008 in Hilton Head, S.C. He was 87. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Abraham Merritt Taylor and Octavia Reed Taylor. Mr. Taylor was an alumna of the Haverford School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During World War II, he was a pilot in the Army Air Force. He flew 36 successful combat missions over Germany and was stationed in East Anglia.
From 1952 until his retirement in 1978, Mr. Taylor was the President of Taylor Gifts, Inc., the national mail order catalog firm he founded in Wayne, PA. Until 1978 he resided in Ithan, PA. In 1978 he and his wife retired to Beaufort, S.C., subsequently moving to Hilton Head Island in 1997.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Fraternity, St. David's Golf Club, Merion Cricket Club, and St. David's Episcopal Church. He was a past president of the Wayne Rotary Club, and he also served on the board of Red Arrow Lines. In later years, during his retirement, he had been a member of the board of directors of Harris Atlantic.
He is survived by a daughter, Randall Taylor Craven of East Norriton, PA; two sons, J. Reed Taylor of Wayne, PA and B. Loyall Taylor, Jr., of Villanova, PA; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A family service is planned. For more information, contact: Ben Taylor at 610-725-1122 ext. 201
