BETH SHARP Obituary

SHARP
BETH ANN died peacefully on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at the age of 61. Beth determinedly fought pancreatic cancer for the better part of 3 years.
She grew up in Paoli PA, and went on to live in Montclair and New Providence NJ, New York City and most recently Downingtown.
Beth was the Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Aerosoles from which she retired in March of this year. Prior to that role she held a Vice President of Human Resources position at Prudential and a Director of Student Counseling at Montclair State University.
Beth received her under-graduate degree in psychology from Penn State University and a graduate degree in counseling from the University of Arizona. While at Penn State she began a lifelong commitment to Kappa Kappa Gamma. She held many chapter positions including President and in 2010 was elected Fraternity Director of Programs and Education for Kappa. By virtue of this position, Beth served as a trustee on the Board of Trustees for the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation. She cherished the honor and responsibility of being one of six women leading Kappa across the nation. She continuously shared what she knew and mentored many in Kappa, in business and in life. She was always a calming influence and was able to provide the right guidance at the right moment.
She was passionate about the development of young women as leaders of tomorrow. In fact, she recently received a leader-ship award from Penn State's College of Liberal Arts in recognition of her volunteer work at the college. She had been a member of the Business Minor Task Force and a guest lecturer at Penn State. She also found time to serve the larger community and was on the Board of Directors of the Edwin Gould Services for Children and Families in New York City where she served as Chairman of the Personnel Committee.
One of her other passions was physical fitness. She loved competitive swimming and in recent years participated in mini-triathlons. She last participated in the North Fork Triathlon in Southhold NY even as her treatments were beginning.
For those whose lives were touched by Beth, even for a brief time, will miss her loyalty, thoughtfulness, passion for living, reassuring calm and infectious laugh.
Beth is survived by her dad, David R. Sharp along with many friends and Kappa sisters she touched so deeply. She was predeceased by her mother, Ruth Moore Sharp and her brother, Michael D. Sharp.
A Memorial Service celebrating Beth's life will be held at 11 A.M., on Saturday, July 21, at Paoli Presbyterian Church, 225 South Valley Road, Paoli PA 19301. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation in honor of Beth Sharp, at P.O. Box 38, Columbus OH 43216 or the Lustgarten Foundation, 111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage NY 11714. Beth was one of my first managers as a newly minted graduate. I am forever grateful to her for sharing her wisdom, sense of humor and patience. I am sure I wouldn't have accomplished what I have with out having had her as a role model.

Beth was my boss at Aerosoles. When I first met Beth we immediately clicked. She was a wonderful person to work for. She was always in a good mood and made working fun. We worked together for 5 wonderful years and I enjoyed every moment. She taught me how to lead and manage people. She was always easy to talk to and was always willing to let me take on as much responsibility as I wanted. She helped me through some difficult personal situations as well.
I will miss her deeply. I send my sincerest sympathies for the loss of Beth.

Beth was a little sister at my fraternity Phi Sigma Kappa. When I heard she had passed, I thought about that big smile that she carried like a calling card. No one could be sad or grumpy around her. She never seemed to have a bad day, always in a good mood, and was a tireless worker during fraternity functions. The world is missing a very bright light.

My sincerest sympathies for the loss of Beth. She was my boss, my mentor and a friend. She was one of the greatest ladies I have ever had the privilege to know. She is missed more than words can describe. Beth taught me grace and elegance in the face of challenges. She taught me the softest voice can be lined with steel. She taught me that kindness is the way to approach difficult situations. She confirmed that it is possible to love your boss and that work can be a really fun thing. Thank you for everything, Beth. I love you and I miss you....
